Same-Sex Relationship Ends in Double Homicide

Daughter of Jose Alfonso Aviles was staying at the home of her female lover when she heard gunshots being fired. Moments later she would discover that her father had showed up at the house and murdered both her lover, Norma Hurtado and Hurtado's mother.

Jose Alfonso Aviles, 45, has been charged with capital murder and was arrested in Bexar County by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, said Lt. Gena Curtis.

The daughter explained to the police that she was “in a lesbian relationship which her father did not approve of.”  It is also rumored that the families had been feuding for several months about the relationship between the two. Though police are unable to label this tragedy as a hate crime just yet, the motives speak for themselves.

    Weekly Mixed Tape

Hoping to set the right mood for your date this evening?

This playlist should do the trick.
That is, if you and your date have matching girl parts.
Otherwise, this playlist may not work as intended.

Tips for a Successful Movie Night

Call me lame, but my favorite nights are the simple ones. Movie nights matched with an endless supply of foods that you'll regret having eaten the next morning, make for one happy Carma. In order to make a veg night one of perfection, I would advise the following-

    Guilty Pleasure
    • Clear out a large space to make room for an ENORMOUS pillow bed (you can NEVER have too many pillows)
    • Order in (I'd go for chinese)
    • Stock up on your favorite snacks and drinks prior (keep them at arms length, even if this requires a mini cooler)
    • Put on your most comfortable pj's
    • Combine all of your potential movies for movie night in one small case (you don't want to have too many decisions to make during veg time)
    • Put your electronics AWAY (with the exception of the tv...obviously)
    • Ignore the calorie intake (just promise yourself some extra cardio so you can have a guilt free veg)
    • Mix up the movie genres (too many dramas makes for a movie snooze night)

    WANNA GET CRAZY?

*Transform your living room into a GIANT FORT, (check out some awesome fort ideas) put everything you'll need for movie night inside the fort with you, including your tv. Add flashlights to your 'need' list and a horror movie or two to your genres (if you haven't already). If you decide to take up the wild fort option then you may want to snap a few pictures that you can later brag or embarrass yourself with via facebook and/or twitter.

Clearly I'm not the only adult that still loves making a kick ass fort. I just ask that if you create one, you send me a picture!

    Happy Vegging!!!

The Art of the "No Spill"

    Meet My Dad
My dad will be turning 70 this August. His dream birthday gift for the big day is a skydiving package. In this photograph, you are witnessing extreme dedication. Not spilling the beer was quite an accomplishment. To my dad, cracking three ribs in the process was a minor detail.

Upon reflection of childhood I've come to realize a few things. I've learned, un-learned and even re-learned a great deal. On the subject of parents and parenting, my current mental status is this-BE THERE. Everyone wants to know the magic equation to perfect parenting and I can assure you that there is none. Showing up and being present is the biggest accomplishment any parent can do for a child. When I say "Be There", I mean that in more than just a physical from. Actively being there is a whole different ball game. Sitting in the same room watching tv and talking on your phone DOES NOT COUNT.

    Hungry for Change

I want to paint on a canvas
The image of a whole new me
    Make it something spectacular
Something the world will want to see
I want to paint on a canvas
The beauty held way down deep
    Something I’ve kept,
    that I want to un-keep
I want to send a message
Something no mind will soon forget
And I’m so hungry for a change
That I’m starving myself of life

    Live Now

Live to live. Don’t stop for a break from life. If you find a break from life to be imperative than truth be told, you’re not truly living. A break from surroundings, a journey, a trip to clear your mind, these are not breaks from life. They are chapters! Smile more than you think possible. Cry happy tears when you feel them build up. Hug passionately. Kiss softly. Love endlessly. Make happiness a daily celebration. Believe in yourself always. Strive for better understandings. GIVE EVERYTHING with the full understanding that it can all be taken away. Never let fear hold you captive. See as much as you possibly can, and tell your stories! Never push a great opportunity by to abide by your "To Do List". Dance when you feel the urge. Laugh as often as you can. Learn to cook meals that nurture your soul. Read on blankets in parks. Climb trees for the rest of your life. Swim in oceans. Learn to unlearn. Never lie. Forgive yourself as you forgive others. Have a dog and love it like a child. Realize your personal values and stand strong to them. Never let change hold you from growth. Lead if you’re a leader. Follow what you believe in if you’re not born to lead. Put yourself in another person’s shoes to gain perspective. Never start a battle if you don’t know what you’re fighting for. Always wish on stars. Make gifts for people, don’t buy them. Discover yourself often. NEVER STOP LEARNING. Always strive to be more. Make every single day of your life a special occasion. BE THERE. Don’t let years put a lock on your childhood imagination. Give it wings!

    GIVE, LOVE, WANDER, EXPERIENCE, LEARN...

    LIVE NOW.

    Perception

When you realize just how limitless choice is, you become aware of the fact that everything is created with an uncountable number of angles to view from. So, in theory we may see even the most familiar things like we are seeing them for the first time, when we change angles and clear manipulations.

    Shades of Optimism

Naturally we all have days when we are feeling a bit less then optimistic. Sometimes it's brought on by a tragedy. Other times you just wake up in a fit of rage. That happens to me if my eyes open two minutes before my alarm goes off. At any rate, it's important that we have a healthy flow of emotions. Excessive happiness is ironically a form of depression and excessive sadness is obviously a form of depression. Overall, I'd say I'm pretty well emotionally balanced. Today.

My current hopes for the creation of this blog site are mixed. I've been a journal keeper for nearly my entire life and part of me feels like I should embrace technology and venture into the digital journal world. To me, life is all about connection. I thrive off of it. There's something incredibly magical that happens to the soul when it feels that it's been related to and understood. The fact that there's a way to express a random feeling or thought with thousands of people in one click it pretty incredible. For the resourceful, this means that one should never feel alone. That is some powerful stuff.
